Sheared & Hydroformed Stainless Steel U-Bend for a Heavy Industrial Chilling System

Metalspun Products Co., Inc. offers custom metal shaping of irregular or intricate shapes, utilizing hydroforming, which provides custom deep-drawn shapes with a very uniform material thickness. Our extensive experience in metal shaping allows us to provide forming and shaping solutions to customers with unique manufacturing needs. This U-bend was shaped and fabricated to be used in a heavy industrial chilling system for our customer in Russellville, Arkansas.
The part measures 8.50" x 3.50" x 3.50" and is made of 304 stainless steel with a 2B finish. The blank was sheared and circle cut in-house before hydroforming. After hydroforming, the U-bend was annealed to relieve residual stresses created by the forming process. The part was then laser cut to customer specifications. After fabrication, parts were inspected to ensure that the dimensional tolerances of ±.020" were met. We produced 300 of these U-bends with a lead time of 5-6 weeks.
