Aluminum Forward Throw Reflector

At Metalspun Products Co., Inc., we are an industry leader, providing precision metal forming for customers across a wide range of industries. We produce custom irregular or intricate hydroformed shapes while maintaining a very uniform material thickness.

This anodized 3002 aluminum forward throw reflector is used to project light forward and was produced for our customer in the commercial lighting industry. Hydroforming is not only an excellent choice for its ability to produce precision parts, but it also has a very low tooling cost, making it a great solution for custom, low-volume parts. For this project, we produced 30 of these throw reflectors in four different trim styles. This part would have been very cost prohibitive at these volumes with any other forming method.

To produce the part, the aluminum blank was pre-formed, then hydroformed. After forming, the large hole was cut and the smaller holes were punched. The finished piece was trimmed and anodized to customer specifications. All dimensions were checked to ensure our specified tolerances of ±.010" were met. Lead time for this project was 4-5 weeks.
